Price: SOLD OUT
Japanese Maples are finely shaped small to medium trees that do well as an accent in any garden. Japanese Maple (green-leaf) - Acer palmatum: #1 pot
Price: SOLD OUT
Intense worldwide interest has led to the development of hundreds of cultivars of Japanese Maples, including some with green leaves that are admired as much for shape as colour. Japanese Maples do well in a protected area. They're do not appreciate hot, dry, windy sites, and make a good choice for yards with partial shade.
Siebold’s Magnolia - Magnolia sieboldii: #2 pot
Price: SOLD OUT
Siebold’s Magnolia is said to be among the loveliest of the flowering magnolia trees. Through May and June they bloom with translucent white petals unfolding to reveal a bouquet of delicate bright red stamens perched atop a maroon center. Additional flowers appear sporadically through the summer, followed by egg-shaped fruits that turn carmine in the fall, in bright contrast to the golden yellow foliage. Size: 3-5m high by 3-5m wide.
Strawberry Tree - Arbutus unedo: #2 pot
Price: SOLD OUT
Small to medium evergreen tree featuring outstanding flowers, fruit, leaves and bark. Whitish-pink flowers are produced from October to December. Round, knobby fruits gradually ripen to orange-red and are often in color when the shrub is in full flower. They are edible but the name "unedo" suggests you won't care to eat more than one. Choose a protected site to ensure fruit every year. The dark green glossy foliage is beautiful, as is the attractive, cinnamon-colored bark. Prune shrubs to accentuate the sculptural qualities of the branching and bark. Size: 2.5m high x 2m wide.
Black Tupelo - Nyssa sylvatica
Price: SOLD OUT
An attractive tree throughout the growing season, the Black Tupelo becomes a superstar in fall with colors ranging from fiery reds to clear golden yellows. It is a very tough urban-tolerant tree able to grow in poor heavy soils in dry or wet conditions. It has a straight trunk with strongly layered, horizontal branches. Its slow rate of growth makes it well-suited to city gardens. It develops strong wood which rarely breaks in storms. Size: 6m high x 4m wide.
Japanese Snowbell - Styrax japonica: #1 pot
Price: SOLD OUT
A beautiful small to medium tree from woodlands in Asia that do well in partial shade here. White bell-shape flowers with light fragrance hang gracefully downwards along the branches in May, making them an excellent choice to sit under on a patio. Dark green leaves and decorative green fruit follows flowers into summer. Decorative green fruit only add to the charm. The overall shape is upright and pyramidal with horizontal side branches, making a nice canopy.
Chinese Dogwood - Cornus kousa var. chinensis ’Milky Way’: 1 gallon pot
Price: SOLD OUT
’Milky Way’ is named for its abundant flowers, in number metaphorically rivaling the stars. They open in June, starting out lime green and quickly changing to creamy white. In late summer bright red strawberry-like fruits hang from the branches until autumn turns the leaves deep red and scarlet. This small to medium sized tree has a graceful and refined layered branching pattern and older trees show a flaking patchwork of gray, tan and green on the trunk. This dogwood is resistant to dogwood anthracnose, the disease that affects our native dogwood. Size: 6m high x 6m wide.
Liberty Apple (semi-dwarf) - Malus domestica ’Liberty’: #5 pot SOLD OUT
Price: SOLD OUT.
The name Liberty refers to this cultivar’s resistance to disease which helps liberate growers from pesticides. Developed in New York in 1978, it produces a large, red, McIntosh-type fruit with crisp, sweet and juicy flesh. Harvested in October, the flavour can improve over a month of storage. Size: 3m high x 4m wide (can be pruned to desired size).
Italian Prune Plum - Prunus domestica ’Italian’ SOLD OUT
Price: SOLD OUT
This is the classic prune plum, oval-shaped with dark blue-purple skin and yellow-green flesh. The fruit, which can be abundant, is ready to harvest in August-September. Excellent taste when eaten fresh from the tree, it is also suitable for canning and drying. Size: 5m high x 6m wide (can be pruned to desired size).
Fig Tree - Ficus carica
Price: SOLD OUT
Fig trees do best in microclimate pockets that maximize light and heat. Near the south face of a building which reflects the summer sun is a good choice. In a good year fig trees here can produce an abundant crop of sweet, juicy, tender fruit. In a very good year there may be enough sun to encourage a second crop later in summer. Even in a cool, wet year the trees put out an exuberant array of large iconic leaves which will help growth and fruiting in later years. Size: 7m high x 12m wide (can be pruned to desired size).
