Be a TreeKeeper

PRE-ORDERS FOR 2013 TREES ARE COMPLETE AND ALL STOCKS ARE SOLD OUT. THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR PARTICIPATING. IF YOU DIDN'T GET A TREE, OR YOU GOT A GOT A TREE BUT STILL HAVE SPACE TO ADD TO YOUR OWN PIECE OF THE URBAN FOREST, PLEASE CHECK BACK WITH US NEXT YEAR AND REMEMBER TO ORDER EARLY TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT.

If you live in one of the six pilot neighbourhoods, you're invited to join the first year of the TreeKeepers program. Our target neighbourhoods are: Renfrew Collingwood, Marpole, Mount Pleasant, Grandview Woodland, Downtown Eastside/Eastern Core and the West End

Residents and businesses with private property in these neighbourhoods are eligible to buy a tree and become a part of the program. You MUST pre-register, pre-pay online, and pick up your tree at the appropriate date and place. We have a limited number of discounted trees to offer so we apologize in advance if your area sells out.

Trees cost $10 for most species or $20 for fruit trees. They come in various sizes from those in easy to carry small pots to larger fruit trees in larger pots that may be a handful for some. In some neighbourhoods a workshop on "How to Plant a Tree" will be given before the distribution.

(All trees will be monitored in the future for health and recorded in a database by our volunteer Citizen Foresters. If you'd like to become a Citizen Forester, there will be three two-hour training sessions on knowing and caring for urban trees. The courses begin Thursday, April 18, from 7-9pm at VanDusen Botanical Garden. The next two will be Wednesday, May 15, from 7pm-pm at the Creekside Community Centre, and Wednesday, June 19, at the Roundhouse Community Centre. The training is free but only those attending all three courses will earn the designation of Citizen Forester.)
